Sports Massage Swansea

Keep your body in Peek fitness with a massage by Elite Feet

What to expect from a sports massage

When you come for your massage appointment there will be a consultation to collect your personal details, discuss any aches and pains you might be experiencing and note any relevant health and medical history. You can ask any question you have about the treatment, if this is your first massage I'll talk you through exactly what will happen and everything you need to know.

For sports massage in general  An 1 hour treatment is most appropriate. The 1 hour treatment approximately  includes 45 minutes on the table. Sometime maybe spent looking at body posture and  helpful exercises  for home work .
Throughout the treatment I will ask questions about how different areas are feeling and check that the pressure is acceptable, some areas can sometimes feel slightly tender. Passive and active movements are often used during the treatment working with the body's movement patterns. Techniques used can include :Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point therapy, Myofacial Release, Passive and Active Stretching.

Occasionally, some people can feel some muscle soreness the following day, don't worry it should only be a slight tenderness and should ease over 24 to 48 hours.

If you are thinking about booking an appointment and are experiencing pain or discomfort and have done so for some time, then fairly regular massage sessions can be helpful to start with. A treatment plan can be discussed at the inital appointment and a discount is given for prepayment if more than five or more treatments are booked.

Kenesiology Taping done by very small hands! - Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. It is applied to suitable areas of the body to benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions.

Why Sports Massage?

The body can develop minor soft tissue conditions through any activity that requires a simple movement, not just sport. constant repetition can cause muscular strains and stress, if these are left untreated, stresses and strains they escalate and create larger problems over a period of time. Sports Massage is a deeper type of massage increasingly recognised by doctors as a method of treatment that can benefit a person’s health and help revitalise them and release unwanted physical pressure or mental stress

Sports Massage is not just for the competing athlete but for anyone taking part in sport. Taking part in sport can be enjoyable and strenuous and many athletes wish to improve their performance and usually this involves increased levels of training and consequently subjecting the body to gradual and controlled overuse. This use of the body can cause problems in the soft tissue, creating imbalance and discomfort, Athletes often ignore the early warning signs of such problems and these can become chronic and lead to more serious conditions. They cannot reach their optimum performance level and are potentially leaving themselves open to more traumatic types of injury.

Sports massage should play an important part in the life of any sportsman or woman, it should not just be confined for remedial and rehabilitation treatments. Massage has a number of benefits both physical, physiological and psychological which if accessed regularly can help to maintain the body generally in better condition.

Sports Massage is a useful aid in managing and maintaining the health of the soft tissue in the body and can help extend the length of an athletic sporting life .

I suffered a rather bad whiplash mountain biking which caused damage to my cervical spine. After a few treatments, a chiropractor referred me to a physiotherapist but unfortunately neither where able to prevent pain in my neck, shoulder and left arm or relieve me of constant pins and needles in my left hand.

Sue found the cause of the problem quickly and her expertise, planned exercises and care have brought about an amazing improvement. - P. Walker 2015
